The Stroud Region Open Space & Recreation Commission

The Stroud Region Open Space & Recreation Commission
The Stroud Region Open Space & Recreation Commission is working to preserve the environment and beauty that is a trademark of this region, by implementing the plans the citizens of the Stroud Region have adopted:
  • The Stroud Regional Open Space & Recreation Plan, and
  • The Brodhead, McMichael, and Pocono Creeks Greenways Plan.

Many of the Borough's Recreation programs are centered at Dansbury Community Park located on Day Street. The Stroud Region Open Space and Recreation Commission (SROSRC), formed by East Stroudsburg Borough, Stroudsburg Borough, and Stroud Township , operates a summer day camp (“Stroud Kids”) program every year at Dansbury Park . This year the day camp will run for eight weeks. SROSRC also operates a summer basketball program at the Dansbury Park courts, and a late-afternoon recreation program for attendees of the Day camp, utilizing the new Community Center Building . For information on the recreation programs operated directly by SROSRC, contact their office at 426-1512, or visit their web site: www.srosrc.org through the link on this site.

The Borough's longest-running and most popular recreation program is the Dansbury Park Swimming Pool , serving residents of the area since 1938. The Swimming Pool was extensively renovated in 2004-2005, and features heated water; zero-depth entry; water play apparatus; one large and two small slides, a 25 yard competitive swim area; shade structures; and a grassy area for sunbathing. Residents of the Borough receive a discounted admission rate, whether by season pass or daily fee, as indicated below.

A new and more efficient method of managing pool admissions and membership debuts this year at the Stroudsburg Borough and Dansbury Park Pools using the ActiveNet online registration system. To qualify for a resident rate at the pool, you must bring proof of residency (tax, water, or sewer bill). Without proof of residency, non-resident rates will apply. Stroud Township Residents are honored at the resident rate at the Stroudsburg Pool; Smithfield Township Residents are honored at the resident rate at the Dansbury Park Pool. Season passes are available prior to the season at the Day Street Community Center. Once the information is collected, all future visits are streamlined with your own season pass ID card. The following are the rates for the 2010 season:

Season Passes are sold beginning in May. Swim pool season passes are sold only at the Day Street Community Center located at 15 Day St., East Stroudsburg, at Dansbury Park.  Season passes are not sold at either the Pool or at the Borough Office.

To purchase a season pass at the Resident Rate, you must have identification showing you are a resident of the Borough of East Stroudsburg (not just a resident of the East Stroudsburg Area School District ). You must present your season pass card at the pool every day in order to be admitted.
